The North Lake School District Board of Education acted on the appointment of Mrs. Amy Skirvin as Superintendent of Schools at a special board meeting on March 31, 2026. The Board and Mrs. Skirvin will begin onboarding and transition activities over the next several months, including scheduling community and staff meet and greets. She will officially assume superintendent duties on July 1, 2026.
Since 2018, Amy has led Waldport Middle and High School as principal in the Lincoln County School District. Before that, she was principal at Clatskanie Middle High School. With fourteen years of notable experience in school administration—including roles as activities director, athletic director, assistant principal, and principal—she brings a wealth of leadership to North Lake. In 2021, she was honored as the Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators Middle School Principal of the Year and recognized by the National Association of Secondary School Principals as Oregon’s Principal of the Year. Amy also serves on both the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators and plays an active role in program planning and professional development for the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators. Since 2023, she has mentored future school leaders across the state as a principal intern supervisor at the University of Oregon/COSA. She began her career teaching physical education, health, basketball and volleyball coach at Scappoose High School in 2004.
Board president Dan Jansen stated, “On behalf of the Board, I just want to thank all the stakeholders, including students, who participated in the public engagement phase of the search. Your input was invaluable in shaping our Next Superintendent Criteria.
Amy was a standout candidate for the North Lake search. She brings such a practical approach to leadership from her experiences at other districts. Talking with her in person you can sense her passion for education and her desire to support teachers and students alike. The Board is incredibly excited to work with Amy, and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
“I am truly honored and excited to join the North Lake School District community. In small rural communities, schools are at the heart of everything, and I look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community members. My focus will always be on high-quality instruction and ensuring every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed, “ said Mrs. Skirvin. “I’m eager to get to work alongside this incredible community!”
