The North Lake School District Board of Education has launched their search for the district’s next superintendent. Selecting a new superintendent is one of the most important decisions the NLSD Board of Education can make. The Board is committed to finding the right leader for our community.
Because hiring the right next leader for the NLSD is a critical decision, the Board is prioritizing community engagement to inform the search. The Board has selected Human Capital Enterprises to facilitate a comprehensive recruitment and selection process with the goal of having the next superintendent begin work July 1, 2026.
The search process will proceed in the following sequence:
Planning (Completed): Selecting a search firm, finalizing a search timeline, and acting on a recommended search process with regular updates to the community.
Constituent Engagement (January 6-26): This phase is centered on engagement with students, staff, families, and community members. The Board will conduct an online survey and five focus groups. The Board will then utilize the feedback to develop the criteria for recruiting and selecting our next superintendent.
Recruiting (January 27-February 27): Human Capital Enterprises will advertise and recruit for candidates that match the approved Next Superintendent Criteria.
Selection (March 1-April 1): This phase will include extensive vetting, referencing, interviews with the Board; and a comprehensive background check.
Transition (April-June): We look forward to introducing the new superintendent to all areas of our school community. Although the new superintendent will not officially begin until July 1, 2026, we envision on-boarding activities to begin shortly after selection, including community-wide “meet-and-greet” opportunities.
We need to hear from you. We want to know what you have valued about North Lake School District, what challenges a new superintendent will face, and the qualities you want to see in our next leader. We hope that you will take the time to complete this confidential survey. The survey will close on January 13th at 8:00 am.
Additionally, if you are interested in participating in a focus group to share your feedback with Human Capital Enterprises consultants, please complete the interest form sent to all parents /guardians by email. Selections will be determined through a random lottery, with care to ensure representation across the district. The form must be completed by January 9th at 8:00 am. Focus groups are 45 minutes in length and will be held on January 12th and January 13th. Participants selected will receive email confirmation of the date and time on January 9th. Focus groups are conducted virtually on Zoom.
