Summer Update

I hope you are all having a great summer vacation! June is already behind us, but we still have some warm days ahead, so enjoy this time with your families!

I would like to remind you that it’s ALWAYS the best idea to keep your students reading and doing some math over the summer, just to keep their skills sharp. Be creative and let the kids choose books and reading material that interests them, and find ways to practice math during your daily activities. This could be when you are shopping, cooking, creating a list of what they need for back to school items and calculating how much they might spend. The possibilities are endless. If you can’t think of anything, Google search what you are looking for, and you will have more information than you can sort through in the remaining days of summer! :D

When we resume school in the fall, know that we will once again focus on regular daily attendance for every student! I say this every year, but it’s just that important. Your kids need to be here, and we want them here! Please make regular attendance a priority, and if you need more information, please call. We are happy to help.

Thanks to the hard work of our North Lake Community School Network and many generous donors, school supplies for will be provided for students in grades K-12 again this year! Your student is only responsible for providing a backpack and gym shoes. This will vary a bit from class to class, particularly at the MS/HS grades, but you will be given information on anything extra they need to bring at registration time.

We have worked hard this past year to improve our communication with parents and the community. Primarily, any general information will be posted on our District FaceBook page and the District website. Other information will go home via SeeSaw for elementary grades, SportsYou for athletic information, and the NL FFA FaceBook page for our FFA students. Teachers may also call, text or email. You are welcome to email a specific staff member or call the front office at 541-576-2121. In addition, we will be inviting parents to attend meetings or presentations with your students to ensure you receive important information and can work with your student and the school as appropriate. Please check out the NL District FaceBook page often, along with the District website. Thank you!

We will share information throughout the summer, so check in later in July and the first week in August for updates!

Respectfully,

Gail Buermann
